What you paste into a tool
Stays in your browser. The tools are written to do their work on your device, and the text, files and images you give them are not sent to this site or to anyone else. Two tools are exceptions, because the job cannot be done in a browser at all: the DNS lookup and the IP inspector are answered by this site’s own server. Both carry a badge saying so, and both pages explain exactly what the round trip involves. No tool sends your input to a third party.
Accounts, cookies and tracking
There are no accounts, so nothing to sign up for or log in to. The site sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser between visits. It runs one analytics script, described below, and no advertising scripts.
Analytics
Each page loads a small script from Cloudflare, called Web Analytics, so we can see how many people visit and which tools they use. It records the page address (without anything after a question mark), the site you came from if your browser says so, the country your connection appears to be in, the kind of device and browser you use, and how long the page took to load. It uses no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and does not build a profile of you across visits or across sites; Cloudflare describes it as not collecting personal data. It never sees anything you type into a tool. Ad blockers stop it, and the site works the same either way.
What the hosting provider sees
The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any host, Cloudflare receives the standard details of each request for a page — the IP address it came from, the browser, and the page requested — and may keep those in its logs for a short period as part of operating the service. That is a fact of any website; it does not include anything you type into a tool, which never leaves the page.
Fonts and third parties
The typeface is served from this site, not from a font network, so opening a page here makes no request to Google or anyone else. There are no embedded third-party widgets; the analytics script above is the only third-party code on the page.
Changes
If any of the above changes — for instance if a tool is added that needs an outside service, or if anything more than the analytics described above is ever added — this page will say so, with the date. More about the project is on the about page.
